A Message from the FMA President

CAN FLORIDA MOTORCOACH ASSOCIATION KEEP COACHES BUSY YEAR-ROUND?

The busy season is upon us. If you are like me, you’re very glad to see the coaches and drivers rolling. In truth we wish it was this busy year-round. Busy enough to command a good price for our service and keep utilization up! What do we have to do to recreate this kind of group travel demand all the time? Is it solely created by the weather? Why does the pattern exist annually? By understanding the supply and demand of the services we are selling, analysts tell us we should be able to predict the industry trends.

Several weeks ago we had our quarterly board meeting in Orlando and I must say, in my opinion, it was the best most productive board meeting yet. The new website is live and I hope you have taken the time to visit it. Our hat is off to board member George Childers of Magic Carpet Ride along with committee members for an excellent job and great amount of work with the new site. Please visit and let us know what we can do to make it better.

This year, I’d like to extend my personal and a special invitation to you and your teams to the Florida Motorcoach Association annual show in Orlando! We are privileged to host the first ever combined state association meeting with the South Carolina Motorcoach Association. I feel confident that the attendance will be an all-time high as well as the best programming for a state show that you have ever seen. A special thank you to the committee for an excellent job and great work on the show. Lisa Vining of Sunsational Tours and Eddie Serrano of Empire Coaches are co-chairman for the planning committee. I am committed to doing everything in my power to make this year’s show the benchmark in state association meetings.

Can Florida Motorcoach Association fix the problem of seasonal slow times and keep coaches busy year-round? I do not know the answer to that. However, I can say with confidence, that together, we can accomplish more. By working together and making FMA the best it can be and by getting other operators involved, we could change the entire course of the industry.

Would you please come to the FMA show this summer and help make our industry the best it can be?

Until then, book more trips and stay rolling,

Ray Land
